My Approach to Treatment

I enjoy working with adults, adolescents, couples and families who have identified areas of their lives in which they are motivated to make changes. In order to obtain the best results from therapy, you should feel comfortable with your therapist, hopeful about the approach you are taking, and committed to your goals. My general approach to psychotherapy is based on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which consists of a set of therapeutic techniques that have been supported by research. CBT focuses on the present and the belief that your well being is impacted by your environment, as well as your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The therapeutic techniques in CBT are aimed at improving your quality of life by improving your ability to respond to life’s challenges. These strategies include building skills, managing painful emotions, and improving relationships.

Insurance and Fees

I do not accept insurance directly and I am not a member of any HMO plans. I am considered an out-of-network provider for PPO plans. If you are interested in using insurance, it would be best to contact your insurance company about benefits for out-of-network providers. Payment will be collected at the time of service, but I will provide you with a monthly statement that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. As treatment generally consists of multiple visits, it is important to address concerns about payment when you are selecting a provider. I am happy to answer any questions you have regarding payment before you start treatment.
